How is data transmitted back to Earth?

Data is transmitted by a radio transmitter onboard the CubeSat via a downlink to an Earth radio station. One important consideration in choosing a CubeSat project is how large the data will be and how often it will need to be downlinked to the Earth station. Real time observations need to be downlinked frequently. Pictures constitute very large data.
